Problem solving skills are essential in helping us become independent thinkers and learners. While working through a problem, a student must consider various approaches as well as the outcome of each. In mathematics, problem solving encourages students to think both rationally and logically. I believe that the skills learned through these kinds of problems will lead to effective decisions both inside and outside the classroom.
